Denied Because of Too Many Credit Inquiries? Here’s What to Do

Submitted by • May 5, 2013 Website:

Brian at The Points Guy answers a reader question: “How do you respond to banks that decline due to massive inquiries?”

Along the way, Brian also shares his insights on particular banks. Capital One will do credit pulls from three credit bureaus, resulting in three hits for applying for only one credit card. Chase is the easiest to deal with on reconsideration calls, with American Express also getting a thumbs up. From what I heard, U.S. bank can also be quite strict about approvals. In the comments, many readers singled out Barclays for criticism, often declining them when Chase or Amex would happily grant them more credit cards.
